Ha llegado el mes de Julio. El día 4 es la Fiesta Nacional, así que podéis aprovechar para acudir The Great 4th of July Festival Water St from Fulton to Broad St, Manhattan. Eso para empezar.

Las temperaturas invitan a pasear (por la sombra) y poder visitar mercadillos en el mismo Times Square. En la Grand Central Station, o en Bowling Park, ya sabéis por la zona de Wall Street junto al toro ese al que  -ineludiblemente- hay que tocarle las bolas si es que queréis volver a Nueva York:

Es muy fácil de confeccionar: Vienen indicados una serie de sitios y rutas para ser marcadas; y una vez elegidos, le das al botón de enviar y te proporciona una guía personalizada en pdf con esos lugares seleccionados. Mola un montón!

Para recordar mi jovenes tiempos de fan del folk americano, Judy Collins estará en el Town Hall Theatre, Kris Kristofferson en el Concert Hall at The New York Society For Ethical Culture; y Joan Baez en Central Park.En el B.B. King Club; The Manhattan Transfer y El Gigante de la guitarra acustica Tommy Emmanuel.

The B52’s en el Roseland Ballroom. Counting Crows & The Wallflowers ( el grupo del hijo de Bob Dylan en el Hammerstein Ballroom. Peter Frampton y Robert Cray en el Beacon Theatre. Selah Sue en el Bowery. Y, por fin, Steve Martin (Sí, el actor!!! Y, además, un magnífico interprete de banjo) con la banda The Steep Canyon Rangers.

 Mi querido amigo Roy Batty, residente en Manhattan, tiene, como siempre conmigo, el buen detalle de remitirme un enlace utilísimo donde se pueden observar en imágenes todas las estaciones de metro de Nueva York.

 Para complementar esta información, también incluye  otro enlace a otras redes complementarias.

 El viajero pues, podrás ver “in situ” las estaciones e más usuales que deberá de tomar durante su estancia en un próximo viaje a la City.

 Este es el mensaje. Una gran aportación:

 Aquí podéis hacer un «Tour virtual» por las estaciones de metro.

Y desde aquí podéis acceder a recorridos fotográficos similares por otras redes de transporte como el PATH (que une Manhattan con varias localidades de New Jersey) o el LIRR (la red de cercanías Long Island Rail Road).

Mi querido amigo residente en Manhattan, Roy Batty, de vez en cuando tiene el fantástico detalle hacia mi persona, de proporcionarme información de interés sobre lo que acontece en la ciudad de Nueva York.  Es una suerte para mi -y de rebote- para todos vosotros, el poder disponer de estos datos de primera mano que se salen un poco de los cauces normales de información turística. Una gozada.

Siempre- ¡Gracias amigo!- es información utilísima para el viajero que se desplazará allí.

Ahora va y me envía un enlace sobre un mercado al aire libre (Madison Square Eats) que, instalado en el Madison Square Park (entre el Flatiron y el Empire State. Junto a Park Avenue; ya veis que está en pleno meollo) ofrece…ofrece… Mejor cito sus propias palabras. Pues son dignas de un traductor tan reputado como él:

“Básicamente es una feria anual de comida para ponerse como el tenazas, sentado ahí en el cruce de Broadway con la 5ª. Y bastante caro todo.”

¡¡Con dos cojones!!! Pero es que es eso, simple y llanamente: una instalación de puestecillos, al aire libre y en un escenario inmejorable (ya sabéis: Flatiron, Empire a lo lejos…), de apetitosa comida pelín cara. Podréis elegir entre: Helados, perritos calientes,comida oriental, empanadas, comida italiana, pastelería, comida mexicana, batidos, chocolates, Canolis, langostas… PARA PONERSE TENAZAS!!!

Presentado por Urban Space y Madison Square Park, este mes es ideal para visitar un mercado al aire libre; Con alrededor de 30 expositores y vendedores provenientes de diversas ciudades con los manjares mas suculentos.  Incluyendo además la vuelta al Madison Square Eats de los favoritos de siempre y, ahora, con la presencia de nuevos vendedores de comida.

Todos sois bienvenidos, acercaros por aquí. Tomad una bebida y COMED. El Madison Square Eats estará  abierto diariamente desde el 3 de Mayo hasta el día 31. Desde las 11.00 AM hasta las 9 PM.

Con una extensa línea de “puestecillos”/vendedores asegúrese de pasar por todos y cada uno de ellos ¡y probadlo todo! Worth Square se encuentra justo al lado de Madison Square Park en el cruce con Broadway, 5ºth and 25, no puedes perderte los paraguas y manteles de marimekko.
